Many elderly farmers visiting our CSC Kendra cannot complete PM-Kisan e-KYC due to fingerprint mismatch on biometric devices. Their Aadhaar also doesn't have an updated mobile number for OTP.

Question: Is Iris scanner authentication allowed on the official PM-Kisan portal?

Which eKYC method do you use for senior citizens who fail fingerprint authentication for PM-Kisan?

Yes! PM-Kisan biometric e-KYC on the CSC Digital Seva Portal fully supports Iris RD Services.

Compatible devices:

  • Mantra MIS100V2
  • Iris ID iCAM7000 (and compatible models)

How to use Iris on PM-Kisan:

  1. Connect the Iris scanner via USB
  2. On the e-KYC page, click Biometric eKYC
  3. The portal detects available registered RD services
  4. If both Mantra MFS100 and MIS100V2 are connected, select Iris from the dropdown

The Iris capture completes in under 2 seconds and e-KYC is confirmed immediately.

Iris capture is a lifesaver for agricultural workers whose fingerprints are worn out from farming.

Best practices for Iris capture:

  • Position scanner 10–15 cm from the farmer's eyes
  • Use shaded indoor light — avoid direct sunlight which overexposes the Iris sensor
  • Ask the customer to remove spectacles if possible

Success rate for elderly villagers is over 99% with Iris vs ~60% with worn fingerprints.
